Basic Package Installation Guide

  

1.      Remove the devices from their packaging.

a.     Verify all devices are included in the Basic package:

                                                              i.      4 - Motion Sensors

                                                            ii.      1 - Wall-mount Panic Button

                                                          iii.      1- Gateway

                                                          iv.      1- Door Sensor

Motion Sensor

3 - AA Batteries per sensor

1.      Press the button on the bottom of the sensor, then remove the front cover.

2.      Insert three AA batteries.

3.      Reattach the front cover: hook the top first, then press the bottom until the latch clicks.

4.      When installed correctly, the cover should be firmly locked in place.

Wall-mount Panic Button

 

1 - CR2032 flat battery

1.      Remove rubber stopper from the top of the unit.

2.      Insert a small screwdriver (or similar tool) into the bottom of the unit and push the inner control out through the stopper opening.

3.      On the back of the smaller unit, use a flat-head screwdriver (or coin) to turn the round battery cover counterclockwise (left) until it pops open.

4.      Press the battery into place with the smaller side facing the device. It should fit snugly.

5.      Reinstall the battery cover with the arrow aligned to the unlock icon.

6.      Use a flat-head screwdriver (or coin) to turn the cover clockwise (right) until the arrow points to the lock icon.

7.      Insert the smaller unit into the larger unit with the red buttons facing the same direction; insert the battery end first.

8.      Reinsert the rubber stopper and press all tabs firmly into place. It should sit snugly with no gaps.

Door Sensor

1 - CR2032 flat battery

1.      The battery cover is on the front face and bottom of the door sensing unit.

2.      Press and slide the battery cover downward until the cover is off the device.

3.      Slide the battery under the metal clip, inserting it from right to left with the smaller side facing the device.

4.      Slide the cover back on from bottom to top until it locks in place.


3.      Install the Gateway

a.      Plug the Gateway USB into the USB adapter included in the package.

b.     Plug the USB adapter into a power outlet located centrally relative to where you will place the devices. (NOTE: Choose a gateway location so all devices are within ~90 ft (30 m); otherwise, they may not work as expected.)

c.      The first time it powers on, the gateway will flash red. (You will configure it in the next steps.)

4.      Install the Thessai application on your mobile phone.

a.      Scan this QR code with your mobile phone to install the app:


b.     Complete the application installation.

5.      Configure the Thessai application in your mobile phone settings.

a.      Grant Thessai access to activate all functionality in your Thessai application.

                                                              i.      Apple Mobile Phone

1.      Open iPhone Settings application.

2.      Scroll down and select Apps.

3.      Select the Thessai application.

4.      Camera = ON (green)

5.      Photo Library = ON (green)

6.      Background App Refresh = ON (green)

7.      Bluetooth = ON (green)

8.      Select Notifications

a.      Allow Notifications = ON (green)

b.     Time Sensitive Notifications = ON (green)

c.      Alerts

d.     Banner Style = Persistent

                                                            ii.      Android Mobile Phone

1.      Open Android Settings application.

2.      Scroll down and select Apps.

3.      Select the Thessai application.

a.      Notifications = Allowed

b.     Permissions = camera

6.      Create your caregiver account.

a.      Open the Thessai application.

b.     Create a caregiver account: select the Sign Up link and follow the prompts.

                                                              i.      

c.      Enter a username, email address, and password.

d.     Verify your email address using the 6-digit code sent to your inbox.

e.      After verification, your caregiver account is created.

7.      Login to your caregiver account using your email account and password created in step 6.

8.      Connect your gateway to your Thessai account.

a.      On the Thessai dashboard you will see the following screen:

                                                              i.      

b.     Press the green button containing the human icon with the + sign.

c.      Press the QR Code button at the bottom of the screen:

                                                              i.      

d.     Use your phone to scan the QR code on the back of the gateway.

                                                              i.      ** This registers your system to your caregiver account. **

e.      Follow the remaining user configuration instructions in the Thessai application to register your wi-fi connection

f.        Verify device is connected to the wi-fi:

                                                              i.      On the home screen press the Devices button on the bottom menu

                                                            ii.       On the top of the Devices page the gateway should state Online

                                                          iii.      If not connected, verify your wi-fi connection authentication is correct:

1.      On the Home page press the Devices button on the bottom menu

2.      Near the top of the Devices page, select the dropdown button: .

3.      Select the Wi-Fi button.

4.      Follow the application’s instructions.

g.      Once the wi-fi connection is verified, press the gateway device refresh button to make sure you have the latest firmware updates:

                                                              i.      On the home screen press the Devices button on the bottom menu

                                                            ii.      At the top of the Devices page press cloud button .

                                                          iii.      The device configuration may take a few minutes to complete the update if an update is required.

9.      Configure your app for Notifications.

a.      In the Thessai application:

                                                              i.      Update Caregiver Profile:

1.      Select the three lined menu button in the upper left corner of the dashboard.

2.      Select Edit Profile

3.      Enter your contact phone number (your mobile number).

4.      Press Save

                                                            ii.      Set notification preferences:

1.      Select the three lined menu button in the upper left corner of the dashboard.

2.      Select Notification Preferences

3.      Select In-app Notifications checkbox.

4.      Select Email checkbox.

5.      Select Voice call checkbox.

6.      Select WhatsApp checkbox.

                                                          iii.      Validate User Profile:

1.      Select Home button.

2.      Select Devices button.

3.      On the bottom of the gateway header select the expand button ()

4.      Enable the SMS Service

                                                          iv.      Define the Notifications you wish to receive:

1.      On the Home screen press the Setup button.

2.      Select the Alert Rules tab.

3.      Select from the default alerts that are displayed by Enabling and Disabling them.

a.      NOTE: Current rules can be edited or deleted based on your preferences, too.

4.      Define your own rules by pressing the + button in the upper right corner of the screen

b.     Make sure the Thessai notification telephone number is not in the mobile phone’s blocked contact list

                                                              i.      iPhone:

1.      Open Settings app

2.      Select Apps

3.      Select Phone

4.      Open Blocked Contacts list

5.      If +1-855-869-7109 is listed, then remove the telephone number from the list.

10. Verify devices are registered with the gateway

a.      On the Home page select the Devices button from the bottom menu

b.     The Devices screen will display all found devices linked to the gateway.

c.      Verify devices are registered with the gateway.

                                                              i.      NOTE: They may be offline or online depending on their sleep state. This is ok.

                                                            ii.      If a device is missing from the list:

1.      Verify the missing device’s batteries are installed.

2.      Verify the missing device’s batteries have power.

3.      If verified and they still don’t appear then contact Customer Support.

11. Verify your devices are working before installation.

a.      Open your Thessai application.

b.     On the bottom navigation bar, select Events.

c.      Select the Timeline tab.

d.     Verify Motion Sensor devices:

                                                              i.      Place the sensors nearby with the plastic sensing face pointing toward you.

                                                            ii.      Move your body to trigger an event in all sensors.

                                                          iii.      Within one minute, you should see events in the app. If not, see the Troubleshooting section below.

e.     Verify Wall-mount Panic Button:

                                                              i.      Press the panic button until you hear a beep from the gateway device.

                                                            ii.      After 5 seconds you should hear a second beep from the gateway device. If this does not occur, then see troubleshooting section.

f.       Verify Panic/Push button:

                                                              i.      Press the panic button until you hear a beep from the gateway device.

                                                            ii.      After 5 seconds you should hear a second beep from the gateway device. If this does not occur, then see troubleshooting section.

g.      Verify Door sensor:

                                                              i.      Separate the two door sensor parts and bring them back together.

                                                            ii.      Within one minute, you should see an event in the app. If not, see the Troubleshooting section below.

12. Install the devices.

a.      After verifying the devices are working, install each device in its final locations by peeling off the command tape on the back of the device and adhering the device to the wall following the installation specifications below:

                                                              i.      Motion Sensors: Motion Sensors are designed for wall mounting only. They are unsupported if placed on a shelf or table, or if installed behind glass (for example, inside a cabinet). They use infrared sensors to detect movement.

a.      Installation orientation: Mount the device vertically on the wall, with the sensing screen at the bottom.

b.     Mounting height: Install the device at least 4.5 ft (1.5 m) above the floor. Keep the area below the sensor clear so furniture does not block the 45° downward view.

c.      Horizontal clearance: Make sure wall hangings or furniture do not block the sensor’s 52° view to the left or right.

d.     Distance from the gateway: Install the device within 90 ft (30 m) of the gateway. Line of sight is not required, but metal furniture or fixtures can reduce signal strength.

                                                            ii.      Wall-mount Panic Button: Place the button near the shower or toilet where it can be reached easily in an emergency.

a.      Installation orientation: Mount the device with the rubber stopper facing the ceiling.

b.     Distance from the gateway: Install the device within 90 ft (30 m) of the gateway. Line of sight is not required, but metal furniture or fixtures can reduce signal strength.

                                                          iii.      Door Sensor: Install the door sensor on the primary entry/exit door, or on any door you want to monitor.

a.      Installation orientation: Orientation is not critical as long as the two pieces align when the door is closed.

b.     Larger piece: Install the larger piece on the door frame, at least 1 in (2.5 cm) below the top of the door.

c.      Smaller piece: Install the smaller piece on the door so it aligns with the larger piece when the door is closed. Keep the gap under 2 cm.

13. Evaluate the installation.

a.      Confirm the devices trigger events from their installed locations. (Follow the instructions in Step 11.)
